5 months and tough enough!

Here is Levi showing you how tough he can be. You would think that by this picture he likes the sunglasses...but you would be wrong. He has yet to keep them on when we are outside

Another priceless Levi/Daddy picture.
This is the first picture that I took with my new camera
(thank you, Honey!)

22 weeks old in this picture...it is hard to believe!

Not that 22 weeks is a long time, but he is 5 months old and it just seems to be flying by. Now I understand what people say about time flying once you have children. But I guess that means the the old adage that says, "time flies when you're having fun" is true too. I am having the best time with him and Matthew. The three of us together is my favorite time of day. I really enjoy being with Levi all day and I know that I am blessed to be at home with him, but I like getting to experience the cool stuff with Matthew instead of just telling him about it when he gets home.

As far as the cool stuff I am referring to...he is rolling over from belly to back and back to belly like a pro. He is sitting up beautifully, and he babbles non stop. He smiles and laughs by himself now, no one has to prompt him. He is showing all the signs of wanting to eat food, but we want to wait until he is 6 months old. Then, we will start with some fruit and veggies (slow and steady for a while, I still want breast milk to be his main source of nutrition for as long as he allows, hopefully, through the first year...and that's it).

Then after he is at least 9 months we will introduce grains. That probably sounds strange to a lot of people, but through some research, we have found that to be the earliest opportunity for their little digestive systems to really break down the grains. I am not knocking anyone else's methods, this is just what we want to try. There seems to be a million and one theories out there on what to give your child when, and I am not saying that ours is the best by any means, I personally don't know what is best, but as a mom I find more comfort in being wrong about a decision I made, then being wrong and feeling like I didn't go with my gut.

And finally, here is a video that I took with my new camera...I really just wanted to get a video in the blog, just to see if I could do it. The video is just of Levi babbling...nothing super special. I want you to know that it takes FOREVER to upload videos though so please appreciate all the work that I just put into this, and know that videos in the future will be much more poignant. Enjoy!

He is growing very curious...it is wonderful.

You would not believe how busy we have been!

Levi is just growing like a weed these days! We have really been enjoying watching him advance. He now gets excited when we come to get him out of his crib in the morning and when we come over to his exersaucer and talk to him. He knows who we (Matthew and I) are. He also has picked up this new habit of spitting on himself or whomever is holding him. I don't mean drooling. He actually spits a blob of bubbly spit out onto his face which usually drops on my hand or he rubs it on my shirt. I am not sure what to think about this habit. Is it normal? I know all babies drool, but do they all do this? Someone may what to shed some light on this for me.

We recently went on a trip to Tennessee. Levi did very well considering that we traveled at the worst time of the day. He only fussed a few times. He also got his first taste of great weather. It was warm and sunny the day we left. We let him feel the grass for the first time with his bare feet. Things like that are pretty special. We take that experience for granted, but Levi just felt grass under his feet for the first time, and we introduced him to it...cool huh?

This was Levi's first experience in the water. He didn't fuss at all, it was a bit cold but he didn't seem to mind.

This is a four generation picture.
My Grandmother (Naomi Berry), Mom (Debbie), Myself and Levi! We took this when we were in Kentucky at the end of March.

Here we are at my cousin, Christie's wedding.
We even danced like this with Levi in the sling!

This is the first opportunity that we have had to get all the Ferris grandchildren together. Drew doesn't seem to care for all the babies to be laying all over him...

While Melissa (Matthew's sister) was in town, we decided to go to the pool again. This was Levi's second time. He and drew are sporting their matching swim diapers. Levi's is a little big on him...we hope that it fits better this summer :)

When we went to TN, we stopped in Nashville to visit my friend Rachel, evidently, the trip was already exhausting Levi.

Here we are enjoying the great outdoors in Tennessee.

Here is his first time in the grass in bare feet.
I think he likes it!
