A whole month has gone by!!!
(I am not sure why this post says a different date, but I am posting at the beginning of March.)

Well, I have done a horrible job of updating this post so far! Man, you say you will do better and then you end up doing worse than before...such is life.

What has been going on with the Ferris Family?

It just seems like time is a rocket ship that took off about 5 years ago. I met the man I would happily spend the rest of my life with five years ago this past month. We have experienced so many monumental changes in those last five years:

February 2005: We meet.
December 2005: We get engaged.
June 2006: We are married.
March 2007: I find out that I am 8 weeks pregnant with our first child.
November 2007: Levi enters the world on the 16th. A first of our home births.
September 2008: We make our first move as a family...hopefully our last.
January 2009: I find I am pregnant with our second child.
September 2009: Rachel graces us with her presence. Another wonderful home birth.
February2010: We celebrate our first five years together.

As I look back over these last five years they will definitely be some of the most memorable times in my life. I look forward to adding to our family in the coming years (at least once more). But in the mean time, I am truly enjoying my most precious gifts while they are little.

Levi:
Well, he has just been as busy as ever. He is really starting to put multiple ideas together. He is not only making some logical connections, he is also developing the ability to verbalize almost any idea he has. This is both a moment to be proud of and a moment to really define my discipline skills. See, he is not only talking, but he is also talking back. We have to talk to him about using angry words vs. nice words. Also, he is learning the boundaries when it comes to sassing us. I knew this was something that we would have to deal with, but I just never thought it would be so soon. All that aside, he is one of the coolest kids I know. He is such a wonderful little guy! I love him!!!

Contrary to his face in the picture, he actually really likes broccoli. He has been branching out and trying tons of new foods! It has been very exciting for me. We no longer have a battle over what he is going to eat. We have lots of things to choose from!

TERRIBLE TWOS??
I am not sure where the phrase comes from but our two year old is far from terrible. Does he have the occasional toddler melt down? Sure! But overall he has a great disposition. He is care free and happy most of the time. He pushes the limits and tests his boundaries daily, but all kids do that eventually. I will not label my child as terrible. He might have a terrible day...but a whole year? really?

Quote of the week:
"Mommy Joshua, I need water!" (he must think everyone's middle name is Joshua)

A while back, he said that he was going to go to sleep on the couch. I said, "okay...," thinking he was kidding. Not but a minute later, he was actually asleep. It was around nap time, but still a bit early. I was able to take this picture and transport him to his room without him waking up.

Some of you may think this is mean, but he put it on himself...I just took the picture.

Rachel:
She is five months old...almost six months already! I blinked and missed her newborn phase! She sits unassisted now...for a little while anyway. She can roll where she needs to go. She is dabbling in a tiny bit of solids. She laughs at anyone who looks at her. I am not sure she is able to smile without sticking her tongue out too. I love her soo much! I can't believe her first year is nearly half over. In a short time, she will be crawling and teething and doing all the things bigger babies do! She is so much fun to play with. Her new favorite game is playing with a sheer red scarf I bought at Gymboree play and music. I put it over her face and play peek-a-boo. Or I can just put it over her face and let her try to grab at it and shake it around. She is fairly self entertaining.

Five month picture

Her first sitting picture...she is really trying!

Two fingers!

The most recent sitting photo...she is an old pro.
